As I was praying and talking to Jesus this morning I was led to the second part of this verse in the original Amplified Classic Version.
“Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].”
- 1 Corinthians 13:5 AMPC
I was reminded how easily it is to get distracted from the only solution for offense, Christ and Christ alone. The moment Jesus is not our primary focus we lose our way, our true power, and our energy is drained. This is exactly how we enervate our soul.
What we focus on grips us. This is what holds our attention and informs our lives. Jesus is the only One Who truly makes forgiveness possible. If we can train ourselves to keep our eyes on Jesus, we can walk in forgiveness. If we can train our spiritual eyes to be fixed on Jesus, we will not allow the hurts that others bring into our lives to distract us.
This is paramount to walking a life of freedom as Paul said,
“But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).”
- Galatians 5:16 AMPC
Have a great day. Meditate on these truths. This truth has saved my life on more than one occasion. Jesus died to do just that: save our lives.
Delayed obedience is disobedience.
Thank God for Grace which knows no limits!!
