Celebrating New Starts
We all go through phases in life where one part of life ends, and another begins. But do we really stop to appreciate it at the time? Maybe during weddings, funerals, and first birthdays, we are quick to think about how far we've come. But for most of us, we may live life and not stop to consider how blessed we are day-to-day.
In Ephesians 4:24, Paul exhorts us to "put on our new self" when he explains that we are new creatures in Christ (once saved). This is an explanation of radical life change!
Lately, I've been able to celebrate some big, new changes in lives of those around me.
My son graduated from Haverford with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics. I was so glad to see his achievements, and celebrate this new start with him.
Another new start that I saw recently was one of my disciples in my ministry. He not only had a new start when he was released from prison, but he also had a new start when he turned from his sins and followed Jesus for the first time. Now that's a life-changing move!
Ask yourself today-what could I stop and appreciate that is new? Have you "put on your new self"?
